Junior Yotes Basketball Camp for K-8 Boys and Girls - December 27 and 28

If your kid loves basketball (or just loves to be active) this camp is a good local opportunity during the last week of Christmas vacation.

• Who: K-8 Boys and Girls (Must pre-register)
• What: Basketball camp, run by the College of Idaho basketball program.
• Where: College of Idaho Gym
• When: Monday and Tuesday December 27th-28th 1:00-4:00pm (Check-in Dec. 27th 12:15pm)
• Why: Because basketball is really fun. This is a great opportunity to experience the game and to improve fundamental skills.

Little Cougs Wrestling Coming to SAC in April

Little Cougs CITY LEAGUE!

Each elementary school in Caldwell will have its own team and compete against the other schools in Caldwell.  Program is designed specifically for kids of all experience levels. Little Cougs is an introductory level wrestling program meant to get kids excited to be part of the sport of wrestling.

• Who: Ages K-5 BOYS AND GIRLS
• Where: Practices will be held at Sacajawea Elementary School .
• When: Right after school on Mondays and Tuesdays. Your child will need picked up at 5:15.
• Starting: April 5th
• What You Need: Shorts, T-Shirt, Clean Shoes
• Cost: $35 first child $25 second Child, $15 Third Child Includes Tshirt (Talk to Mr. Webster or Mr. De La Cruz if you want your kids to participate, but you just can't afford it right now).

Youth Basketball Club for 1st grade - 8th grade Forming!

The Caldwell High School Basketball Team is forming a youth basketball league.  The fees will help support Caldwell High School boys basketball, jerseys and custodian fees.  There will be a 1st/2nd grade division, 3rd/4th grade division, 5th/6th grade division, 7th grade division, and an 8th grade division.  This should be a fun opportunity for everyone!  The link to sign up for this league is:

Soccer Sign-Up - Crossfire Spring Season - Deadline Feb 13

Many of our kids love to play soccer.  The Canyon Optimist soccer organization has teams for kids from kindergarten up through their teens.  It is a great way to get your kids involved.

Sacajawea's Olympic Trials

To celebrate Healthy Kids Day the YMCA and Mr. Thomas joined forces to give Sacajawea students an action-packed day of fun and exercise. In honor of the upcoming summer Olympics, the event began with the staff and students singing the national anthem, led by Miss Chavarria, before they headed off to the different events to compete in.
Thank you Mr. Thomas and the YMCA volunteers for organizing such a wonderful event for the Sacajawea students!

Mayor's Run/Walk Challenge

Skyhawks were last year's winners!

The Mayor's Run/Walk Challenge begins October 1st and goes to the end of October. The goal of the challenge is to encourage students to move more and to create healthy habits. The elementary schools in the district will be competing to track the most miles ran or walked by students. The school with the most miles will win $2000 to be used to purchase playground and lunchroom equipment.

Mr. Thomas will be out at the Skyhawk Trail before school and at lunch recess punching tickets. Parents are welcome to come out and help punch tickets and to cheer the students on.

C of I- Football and Storytime

Sac students got a special treat when football players from the College of Idaho came to read to them. Students and staff across the school wore purple in support of the Yotes and the upcoming first football game of the season.

• Who: Boys in grades 4-8 are invited to come and receive instruction in the fundamentals of the game (passing, shooting, ballhandling, rebounding, defense) from the CHS coaching staff and players. We believe in developing the youth basketball players in our school district to be the best they can be. 
• Date: Saturday December 14, 2013, 10:30 AM-12:30 PM
• Place: Caldwell High School Gym, 3401 South Indiana Avenue, Caldwell, ID
• Cost: FREE! 
• What You Will Need: Participants need tennis shoes/basketball shoes, shorts, & t-shirt.
• What You Will Get: All participants will get quality instruction from CHS coaches and players.

Boise State Football Players Share With Sacajawea 4th Graders

November is a month where many people share what they are thankful for in their lives.  On November 8th, fourth graders at Sacajawea were very thankful that Brad Larrondo (Assistant Athletic Director for Football) brought part of the BSU football team to share the importance of reading in their lives, getting a good education, honesty, team work, and responsibility. The team emphasized the importance of accountability (you own the consequences of your decisions and choices), unity (being a team player), and integrity (doing the right thing in public and in private—living the truth).  

Thank you Brad for bringing such shining examples of these values!  We are thankful to #19 Mercy Maston, #3 Cleshaw Page,  #4 Darian Thompson, #5 Donte Deayon, #6 Chaz Anderson, #22 Chanceller James, and #30 Jonathon Moxey! What an amazing day!  The teachers had to scrape the kids off the ceiling when they were done, but it was well worth it!
