Veteran's Day Assembly

4th Grade students made cards for the veterans
In honor of the amazing men and women who are serving or have served in the military, Sacajawea held a special Veteran's Day Assembly. The guests of honor were veterans who were friends and family of our staff and students. The assembly was organized by our music teacher, Becca Chavarria and was a beautiful tribute to the veterans.
The program included the members of Student Council teaching a little bit of history about the different wars American fought in. There were also patriotic songs like "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "Grand Ol' Flag" sung by the students. The assembly concluded with Mr. Webster introducing each of the veterans who came to the assembly and thanking them for their service.

Make a Splash Swimming Program at The Y

Our 3rd graders recently finished their "Make a Splash" swimming program at The Y in Caldwell.  What a great opportunity to learn a life skill, swimming.  Every 3rd grader in Caldwell gets the opportunity to have a full session of swimming lessons.  This year we went to lessons two days a week in September and October.  Thanks to our 3rd grade teachers, to the Caldwell Family YMCA staff and swim teachers, and to the generous funders of this fantastic program.

These pictures were taken on the final celebration day, after all of our lessons were done.

Career Aspirations Program- Building Tomorrow's Leaders

Career Aspirations Program
The initial meeting of CAP was held yesterday.  104 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students stayed after school to discuss their future goals, learn about different careers and opportunities, as well as develop their team building and leadership skills.

Students wrote personal short-term and long-term goals for their lives and brainstormed a list of various careers opportunities they could pursue.

During a team building activity, small groups of students worked together to build the tallest structure out of mini-marshmallows and toothpicks.  The activity worked on communication, and decision making skills.
