Sacajawea’s School Carnival was a Success!

Sacajawea Elementary’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) put on a wonderful carnival.  There were lots of games, popcorn, bake sale items, dinner that could be purchased, and a lot of great raffle items.  Several community partners came to participate in the event.  We even had Clifford the Big Red Dog in attendance.  Thank you to our PTO for organizing this event, Mary Korn for heading up the bake sale, the community partners that came, the community partners that donated raffle items, and the staff for their work on this event.  It was a joy to see lots of families with lots of smiles.  Thanks to all who came.

Special Shout-outs to a handful of individuals who put in a bunch of work on the back-end to make the carnival possible:
  • Melissa Reedy (and family) - Carnival Director
  • Destiny Calderwood - PTO President
  • April Mason - Assistant Carnival Director
  • Pam Hoilien - PTO Treasurer
  • Hortensia Hernandez - Community School Resource Coordinator

Sacajawea Students Receive the Gift of Giving!

Last week, Sacajawea’s PTO put on the annual Santa’s Workshop event.  Each student  was able to purchase two gifts for 25 cents each (money is supplied to those without money so all get to participate) to give to a family member or someone special.  It is a thrill to see the delight on the students’ faces as they pick out the gifts!  Thank you to Cole Valley Christian School and others for collecting donations for this project.  Thank you to Destiny Calderwood for heading it up.  Thanks also to the many volunteers.  There were family members, former employees, community volunteers, and even a former Sacajawea family.  It warmed our hearts seeing so many people willing to volunteer to bring this joy to our students.

The Community Supports Sacajawea Elementary

At Sacajawea’s Carnival last night the community partners came out in full force for our school.  Their support for our school and education is wonderful.  Many of them donated items for our raffle.  They were:  Birds of Prey, Bogus Basin, Silverwood Theme Park, Panache Salon, Simplot, D&B Supply, Nampa Bowl, Warhawk Air Museum, Delta Dental, Blue Cross of Idaho, Allison Hill (beautician), and parents who donated (coloring books,  summer fun pack,  face creams,  etc).  Also, thanks to the families and teachers that donated items for the class baskets.

Also, many community partners attended to provide information on resources available to families.  Those in attendance were: Delta Dental of Idaho, Caldwell Public Library, Idaho Central Credit Union, Caldwell Family Fun Day, Terry Reilly, University of Idaho 4-H Extension, Canyon Hill Community Garden, Canyon Hill Church of the Nazarene, Evergreen Mennonite Church, and Caldwell P16.  Plus, a special thanks to Gary, from Clyde the Camel’s family.  The support from our community is so appreciated by the Caldwell School District, Sacajawea’s staff and families, and the United Way.

Sacajawea's School Carnival was a Great Success!

Last night, Sacajawea Elementary held its annual school carnival.  It was well attended and everyone had a grand time.  It included lots of games, prizes, food, face painting, raffle items, community resources, and even a camel!  Thank you to April Mason for heading it up.  Thanks also to Melissa Ready and her family for getting donations for raffle items, Mary Korn for heading up the bake sale, and Hortensia Hernandez for getting some community partners to attend.  Without these people the carnival would not have been as successful.
