Sacajawea Families- we will be hosting the Girls on the Run program at Sacajawea this Spring! 

What is Girls on the Run? It’s an after-school program for EVERY Girl! Helps empower girls and promote physical activity! 

Girls will meet twice weekly for 9 weeks, after school. Highly trained and caring coaches will lead 3rd-5th grade girls through interactive lessons that include physical activity. The season will end with a girl-led community impact project and a non competitive 5K on May 21st, 2022!

Junior Yotes Basketball Camp for K-8 Boys and Girls - December 27 and 28

Skyhawk Families -

If your kid loves basketball (or just loves to be active) this camp is a good local opportunity during the last week of Christmas vacation.

Here is more info and the registration form.  If you would like to send your child to this camp, but really can't afford the registration fee, please contact Mr. Webster or Mrs. Bunn at Sacajawea (pwebster@caldwellschools.org or bbunn@caldwellschools.org).

• Who: K-8 Boys and Girls (Must pre-register)
• What: Basketball camp, run by the College of Idaho basketball program.
• Where: College of Idaho Gym
• When: Monday and Tuesday December 27th-28th 1:00-4:00pm (Check-in Dec. 27th 12:15pm)
• Why: Because basketball is really fun. This is a great opportunity to experience the game and to improve fundamental skills.

Toys for Tots 2021

Toys for Tots is starting to collect applications for their 2021 Campaign. 

To obtain an application please stop by the school to pick one up or contact us to have one sent home with your student.

You can pick up an application from 8:30 a.m to 4:00 p.m during any school day, before November 17th.  

Applications are due by November 18, 2020.

Please return completed forms to the Caldwell School District office or to the office at Sacajawea and we will get the form over to the district office.

Canyon Hill Community Garden Work Day- This Saturday // Día de trabajo en el jardín comunitario de Canyon Hill- este sabado

 

Sacajawea families, want to give us a hand and clean up our community garden? Join us this Saturday, November 6th from 10:00a.m to 12:00p.m at 903 N Michigan Ave, Caldwell. 

Our community garden has been providing fresh produce to Sac families and the Canyon Hill community for more than 4 years now. One of our biggest goals this year is to get more families involved. We would love your help in any way. 

There are several ways you can help us. 

• Weekly cleaning of the garden. 
• Checking in on the watering schedule.
• Helping during the main work days.
• Harvesting the produce. 
• Distributing the produce to homes and around our Sac community. 
• Attending our meetings

Familias de Sacajawea, ¿quieren ayudarnos y limpiar nuestro jardín comunitario? Acompáñenos a nosotros este sábado 6 de noviembre de 10:00 a.m a 12:00 p.m en 903 N Michigan Ave, Caldwell. 

Nuestro jardín comunitario ha estado proporcionando productos frescos a las familias de Sac y la comunidad de Canyon Hill durante más de 4 años. Uno de nuestros mayores objetivos este año es involucrar a más familias. Nos encantaría su ayuda de cualquier manera.

Little Cougs Wrestling Coming to SAC in April

Little Cougs CITY LEAGUE!

Each elementary school in Caldwell will have its own team and compete against the other schools in Caldwell.  Program is designed specifically for kids of all experience levels. Little Cougs is an introductory level wrestling program meant to get kids excited to be part of the sport of wrestling.

• Who: Ages K-5 BOYS AND GIRLS
• Where: Practices will be held at Sacajawea Elementary School .
• When: Right after school on Mondays and Tuesdays. Your child will need picked up at 5:15.
• Starting: April 5th
• What You Need: Shorts, T-Shirt, Clean Shoes
• Cost: $35 first child $25 second Child, $15 Third Child Includes Tshirt (Talk to Mr. Webster or Mr. De La Cruz if you want your kids to participate, but you just can't afford it right now).

Coats for Sac Kids // Chamarra para estudiantes de Sac

Our amazing donor was able to drop off the donated coats to Sac this week. Coats have been organized and will be ready to go home with your student by the end of this week. 

We will try our BEST to get your student the coat that best fits them. 

If your child already has a coat and doesn't need a new one or if you wish to not have your student receive a coat, please email Mrs. Hernandez at hhernandez1@caldwellschools.org or call her at 208-455-3333 ext 1439 to let her know.

Caldwell Community Food Distribution // Distribución de alimentos para la comunidad

On October 31st, 2020 the Caldwell community is invited to participate in the Caldwell Community Food Distribution, in partnership with the Idaho Food Bank and Team Rubicon. There is no qualification to receive food. Only household size and city/zip code information will be collected for data purposes. 

This will be a drive thru distribution. Please stay in your vehicle. 

When: Saturday, Oct. 31st, 2020

Where: O’Conner Field House-

             S. 22nd Ave, Caldwell, Idaho

Time: 11:00 a.m until food runs out. 

Each household will receive two boxes of food (until food runs out)

These food boxes contain a variety of dairy, pre-cooked meat and produce items. 

All boxes are the same.

Mrs. Hernandez will be in touch with you before August 21st with more information. 

As for school supplies, they will include a backpack and face mask. Mrs. Hernandez will reach out to you to set up a date and time for pickup.

CSD Breakfast and Lunch Distribution

Thanks to the volunteers from across CSD who have volunteered distributing breakfasts and lunches to kids across the district.  They will distribute breakfast and lunch tomorrow as well, from 10 to 11 at Sacajawea and in other locations across town.

Sacajawea Night at College of Idaho Basketball Game - Saturday 1/25 at 7PM

The College of Idaho 'Yotes mens basketball team has spent quite a bit of time at Sacajawea this year.  They have talked.  They have played.  They have challenged us to do extra things to serve the community around us. We have a special night to recognize all of the community service our kids have done this Saturday night, January 25th.  We are looking forward to cheering for the College of Idaho 'Yotes Basketball teams on Saturday night.  Many of our Skyhawks have been completing extra community service to earn tickets to the games on Saturday night, January 25th.

To get your tickets for the game, turn your volunteer time sheets in to your teacher Thursday or Friday.  They will give you the tickets you have earned and a purple "Legacy" wristband.

Volunteer Hours Needed for Student Ticket (See Chart at the Bottom of Post):
Kg and 1st Grade - 1 hour
2nd Grade - 2 hours
3rd Grade - 3 hours
4th Grade - 4 hours
5th Grade - 5 hours
Plus, students may earn up to two more tickets to take their parents, sibling, or another relative or friend.  For each extra ticket, just complete one extra hour, up to two hours for two extra tickets.

Where:
College of Idaho Gym (J.A. Albertson Activities Center) - (Park in the lot near S. Indiana Ave and E. Oak St in Caldwell)

When:
7:30pm Mens game time on Saturday Jan. 25th for Sacajawea.
Students will be recognized and brought down to the court at 7:20pm. Arrive to the gym by 7:00pm
Students and families can also come watch the Women’s Basketball Team starting at 5:30pm in the same location.

Schedule:
Students Arrive before 7:00pm and enter through the South West Door connecting gym to the parking lot.
College of Idaho Cheer Squad will be there to help get the students to their section in the top bleachers.
Around 7:10-7:15pm, the cheer squad will organize the kids to go downstairs and be on the court for the anthem and their recognition.
The students will go onto the court in lines around the purple on the border surrounding the court.
After recognition and the anthem, cheerleaders will help escort the students back to their seats/section.
Enjoy the game!!

Any family members who need to purchase additional tickets may go in the main entrance.

Sacajawea's Reading Harvest Night

Thanks to our amazing families, hard-working CHS volunteers, Caldwell Firefighters and our dedicated staff our Reading Harvest Night was a successful evening enjoyed by many. Families heard stories, watched a puppet show, and played many different reading games. We were also lucky to have Clifford pay us a special visit and take photos with many smiling children. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this fantastic night.

Sacajawea’s Students Enjoy a Puppet Show!

 Caxton Printers sponsored Sacajawea’s second and third grade students’ attendance at “Legends of Coyote” at Jewitt Auditorium.  This puppet show had stories of trickster coyote getting into all kinds of silly situations.  The students laughed so much.  Thank you Caxton Printers for providing this wonderful opportunity to our students!

Last week, the Caldwell Rotary Club gave new books to all of the second grade students at Sacajawea Elementary School. Each student got a book based on his or her interests.The students were so excited to get the books and their faces just glowed when they received them.  Thanks again to the Caldwell Rotary Club for getting a book in the hands of each of our second graders!
