CAP Winter Service Project

Career Aspirations Program (CAP)
This Christmas season, the students involved in CAP participated in a service project for the younger students at Sacajawea Elementary.  Each CAP student assisted other students in kindergarten through second grade to complete holiday art projects.  After lots of hard work completing the projects, there were lots of smiles on all the children, and successful artwork items to take home for the holidays.  CAP kids developed valuable characteristics of leadership and serving others, while being positive members of the Sacajawea community.  The teachers found the extra hands extremely helpful, and were also enjoying seeing some former students from years past.  All in all, the service project was a complete success!

Career Aspirations Program- Building Tomorrow's Leaders

Career Aspirations Program
The initial meeting of CAP was held yesterday.  104 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students stayed after school to discuss their future goals, learn about different careers and opportunities, as well as develop their team building and leadership skills.

Students wrote personal short-term and long-term goals for their lives and brainstormed a list of various careers opportunities they could pursue.

During a team building activity, small groups of students worked together to build the tallest structure out of mini-marshmallows and toothpicks.  The activity worked on communication, and decision making skills.

Boise State Football Players Share With Sacajawea 4th Graders

November is a month where many people share what they are thankful for in their lives.  On November 8th, fourth graders at Sacajawea were very thankful that Brad Larrondo (Assistant Athletic Director for Football) brought part of the BSU football team to share the importance of reading in their lives, getting a good education, honesty, team work, and responsibility. The team emphasized the importance of accountability (you own the consequences of your decisions and choices), unity (being a team player), and integrity (doing the right thing in public and in private—living the truth).

Thank you Brad for bringing such shining examples of these values!  We are thankful to #19 Mercy Maston, #3 Cleshaw Page,  #4 Darian Thompson, #5 Donte Deayon, #6 Chaz Anderson, #22 Chanceller James, and #30 Jonathon Moxey! What an amazing day!  The teachers had to scrape the kids off the ceiling when they were done, but it was well worth it!

Thanks also to Ms. Simpson for making the arrangements for this fantastic event for the 4th grade team.
