Zest - Character Focus at Sacajawea

We focus on a different character trait at Sacajawea every couple weeks.  I thought it would be helpful to share with parents what we are discussing.  This next two weeks we will be emphasizing "Zest."

Zest is one of my favorite character traits because it is so much fun.  Zest means to have great enthusiasm or energy.  A person with zest is excited about life. They are fun. Sometimes people with zest are funny.  They are curious.  They are so FULL OF LIFE. They often have a smile and jump right into learning and life with that little zip of excitement.  "Wow, what are we gonna do next?"
Zest is easy to remember because the outside skin on a lemon or orange is called the zest. It wakes you up.  It has a little zing, but it reminds you that you are alive.  The extreme opposite of zest is Eeyore in the story of "Winnie the Pooh."  He wouldn't be much fun to have in your class, would he?  Try to live with Zip, Zing, Zest! Why not make life fun?
