Tuesday is Crazy Socks Day in honor of the book Fox in Socks. Wear mismatched socks, colorful socks, or whatever you can think of!
Please remember that clothing should still follow the dress code.

Mustache Monday - 2/27

Today is Mustache Monday.  Kids can wear a mustache of their choice, in honor of the Dr. Seuss book, The Lorax.
In case you don't have an extra mustache sitting around, hormone therapy hasn't worked yet, and "No Shave November" has turned all the way into almost March, here is a simple idea.

A finger mustache.

Changes to the District Calendar

A message from Dr. French about changes to the district calendar:

We had an unprecedented January for school closure days. After many discussions regarding student instructional time and teachers expressing concern about lost instruction time, the Board of Trustees has approved the following changes to the instructional calendar:


March 15 - regular school hours
March 16 - regular school hours (last day of third quarter)
March 17 - no school (professional development day for teachers)
April 19 - regular school hours (no early release)
April 28 - regular school hours (no longer a day off)

En enero tuvimos varios días de escuela canceladas por la nieve, que era inesperada. Como resultado hubo pláticas de la pérdida del tiempo instructivo, causando que la mesa directiva apruebe los siguientes cambios del calendario instructivo:

1 de marzo - CHS solamente - horas regulares de escuela (no será un comienzo tardío)
15 de marzo - horario escolar regular 

16 de marzo - horario escolar regular / último día del tercer trimestre 

17 de marzo - día de desarrollo profesional 

19 de abril - horario regular de la escuela (sin salida temprana) 

28 de abril - horas regulares de la escuela (no será un día libre)

First graders in Mrs. Braun's math workshop spent time counting fruit loops to 100 to celebrate the 100th day of school.

Soccer Sign-Up - Crossfire Spring Season - Deadline Feb 13

Many of our kids love to play soccer.  The Canyon Optimist soccer organization has teams for kids from kindergarten up through their teens.  It is a great way to get your kids involved.

It's hard to believe, but spring season is approaching.

Friday is Wear Red Day

Friday, February 3rd is "National Wear Red Day". This is a day to raise awareness about strokes in women and to promote being heart healthy. Students may wear red pants, shirts, or dresses on Friday.

Did you know that 1 in 3 women are living with a cardiovascular disease including heart disease and stroke? The good news is that 80% of cardiovascular disease may be preventable with education and action. That's why it is important to learn your family history, eat better, and be active.
