Storyteller Takes our 4th & 5th Graders On An Adventure

Steven Henegar Weaves a Tale
Friday morning the 4th & 5th grade students at Sacajawea were treated to story adventures. Steven Henegar, a professional storyteller from Salem, OR had us imagining getting bit in the "wallet" by an eight month old lion, a tall tale about the beginnings of a lake in Oklahoma, and a Japanese story of good luck.  We also joined together in the making of turnip soup.
We Pull a Turnip
Mr. Heneger was brought to us by the generous supporters of Caldwell Fine Arts and our PTO. He challenged us to find the stories around us, to remember them, to develop them and to tell them and keep re-telling them.

CAP Winter Service Project

Career Aspirations Program (CAP)
This Christmas season, the students involved in CAP participated in a service project for the younger students at Sacajawea Elementary.  Each CAP student assisted other students in kindergarten through second grade to complete holiday art projects.  After lots of hard work completing the projects, there were lots of smiles on all the children, and successful artwork items to take home for the holidays.  CAP kids developed valuable characteristics of leadership and serving others, while being positive members of the Sacajawea community.  The teachers found the extra hands extremely helpful, and were also enjoying seeing some former students from years past.  All in all, the service project was a complete success!
